VENUE:

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, this training will take place online utilizing the Zoom platform.  Login information will be shared with registered attendees before the event.

SCHEDULE:

This instance of this training will take place on three consecutive Mondays (12/6, 12/13, and 12/20) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Trainees are required to attend all three training days.

DESCRIPTION:

This training is the ideal starting place for people new to family support as well as those with experience who are new to Dr. Stephen Bavolek's Nurturing Parenting Programs. Specific topics include: behavior management, personal power, effective communication, family support principles, and the building of a positive self-concept. The training also addresses Nurturing Parenting Program implementation and the whys and hows of family engagement.

TRAINING OBJECTIVES:     

Through a mix of small and large group discussions, participatory lecture, interactive exercises, and group practice session activities, participants will:

• gain understanding in the Philosophy of Nurturing Programs

• learn the steps for implementing Nurturing Programs with families

• learn effective methods for increasing positive parenting and enhancing relationships

• learn a strength-based approach to working with families

• increase their readiness to facilitate the Nurturing Families Programs

This training is intended only for barbers and stylists through a contract with the Boston Public Health Commission.

The Family Nurturing Center has a long history of strengthening families and building community in Boston's challenged neighborhoods and throughout the Commonwealth. We have delivered programs to thousands of families through partnerships with schools, social service agencies, domestic violence shelters, and city and state agencies. We provide training and technical assistance to public and private organizations to help spread the Nurturing Program for Fathers and for Families.
